Judy Alexander Wins Grill From Brazzel-Oakcrest


The Brazzel Funeral Homes have had a booth at the Hope Watermelon Festival for the past several years to visit with their friends. Sheriff Singleton Takes Watermelon Eating Contest!

Despite a stout challenge from Prosecutor Christi McQueen, Hempstead County Sheriff James Singleton once again took top honors in the “Politically Correct” Watermelon Eating Contest Saturday at the Hope Watermelon Festival.  Coming in third was Hempstead County Judge Haskell Morse.

Buddy Jewell Opens Sammy Kershaw Concert

Osceola native and former Camden resident Buddy Jewell opened the Watermelon Festival Concert Saturday night.  Jewell got the crowd ready for Kershaw by opening with his big hit “Help Pour Out the Rain” and closing with “Sweet Southern Comfort”.
